  1. Adding in M&A, Supply Chain, and other datasets. Progress towards reworked reports and automations

    Announcement

    Hi everyone,

We rarely flag new data since we add it regularly, but two additions this week are worth your attention. Both are already live in AI chat, and in dataviewer. Inclusion within reports and workflows will follow next week. The primary reason for bringing in these datasets is part of our move towards comprehensive thematic analysis and forecasting capabilities within reports and workflows.

    M&A

6M+ historical transactions across public, private, and government entities, going back to the mid 1980s. Sourced from LSEG Private Markets and S&P Transactions, refreshed daily across public and private markets.

    Supply Chain:

Roughly 5M+ public, private, and government entities along with other nodes, built from terabytes of data from FactSet Revere, S&P Panjiva, and our own internal datasets. We deliberately blended sources to build a stronger replacement for Bloomberg's SPLC. All public and private entity relationships are now included. External nodes such as people (e.g., Putin) or crude oil, will be added soon.

We have been testing both, and the results have been genuinely insightful. Looking forward to seeing how you use them in your analysis and fold them into reports and workflows next week.

Note: The first set of updates to the reworked automations and reports will be live by next Saturday, May 30. Further updates and improvements will follow, with a fully stable release planned before earnings season at the end of June. Both reports and workflows have been disabled at this time. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

  2. Implementing Reports-V3 & Updated Automations

    Improvement
    New Feature

Reports v3 is rolling out in beta over the coming days. We're shipping it gradually to monitor real world performance. We're also rolling out updated AI automations for chat and reports.

  3. Moving away from FactSet for Financials

As many of you know, we currently use FactSet for scrubbed financials. The reason we moved to FactSet is that it was aimed at being a better version of Compustat (the hedge fund financials dataset from S&P). In all honesty, we have been disappointed with them for numerous reasons, including the following:

    • Delays: FactSet scrubbed data comes in with a two business day lag, meaning data reported on Friday may not hit until the following Wednesday morning.
    • Weak data: missing segments and KPIs, inaccurate estimates, and more.

For this reason, we have found a new method and are migrating to a dataset that will bring data in under 90 minutes after reporting. This provider has a smaller name than FactSet but is currently trusted by some of the largest institutional firms. We aim to finish this migration before Sunday, May 3rd. Until the migration is done, financials from FactSet may become unreliable.

    Hello everyone,

We've released this announcements, roadmap, and ideas feature so that everyone can publicly publish their feature ideas, help us identify bugs and errors, and share anything interesting they've built with the tool. Going forward, we'll be using this to keep everyone publicly informed about our development roadmap, known bugs and issues, and any new announcements!
